Created in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization that fights against hunger in the world. Its charter of humanitarian principles - independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency - has been the basis of its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by ending hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of undernutrition, especially during and after emergencies related to conflicts and natural disasters. Action Against Hunger coordinates its programs around 5 areas of activity: Nutrition and Health - Mental Health, Care Practices, Gender and Protection - Food Security and Livelihoods - Water, Sanitation and Hygiene - Advocacy. In 2019, Action Against Hunger has helped more than 17 million people in 49 countries around the world. www.actioncontrelafaim.org Action Against Hunger has been present in Cameroon since 1998. Since 2014, our action has mainly focused in the East and Far North Region of the country on emergency programs initiated with Central African refugees. and host communities affected by socio-political unrest in CAR and violence linked to Boko Haram activity in the Lake Chad region. ACF has set up long-term population resilience, nutrition, health and water, sanitation and hygiene programs with the support of ECHO and SIDA for more than 150,000 beneficiaries. Since the end of 2018, ACF, under the name of Action Against Hunger, has also been present in the South West, in support of the crisis in this region. Our 2020 strategy is based on responding to immediate humanitarian needs and contributing to economic recovery and strengthening resilience and social cohesion in Cameroon.
The mission currently has 140 employees spread over 5 bases: Batouri in the East, Maroua and Kousseri in the Far North, Buéa in the South-West and the Coordination in Yaoundé.
Cameroon is a fairly stable country. However, the Far North region remains an area of great vigilance with the presence of Boko Haram fractions on the border with Nigeria. Likewise, the North West / South West regions are very unstable.
In Chad, the gravity of the humanitarian situation can be explained by several factors: high infant mortality rate, nutritional insecurity, insufficient health coverage, instability and security risks, fluctuating population movements and recurring natural disasters. In addition, the country is also affected by the regional conflict which shakes the basin of Lake Chad. Action Against Hunger's interventions date back to 1982 in the Kanem region and are associated with the various health and nutritional crises that the country has experienced. Since 2011, ACF in Chad has placed prevention, detection and treatment within the health system and - You ensure the safety of ACF's interventions in Cameroon (and Chad) in its areas of intervention. More specifically you will be in charge of:YOUR PROFILE Holder of a Master 2 in the relevant disciplines (management of humanitarian projects, international relations, security management), you have at least 3 years of experience within an international NGO, in a security-related position personnel and organization, risk assessment, security management and security awareness.
You have excellent writing and analytical skills. You are recognized for your managerial abilities and you have experience in an unstable security environment. You have interpersonal skills (representation with authorities and partners. You know how to be autonomous and manage priorities. You demonstrate rigor, adaptability and responsiveness. Your team leadership skills are demonstrated. Fluency in French in written and oral essential and English at a good level You have excellent resistance to stress If you have ACF experience this will be considered an asset.
YOUR EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Expatriate contract: 12 months fixed-term contract customary under French law Compensation and benefits: - Gross monthly starting salary from 2450 to 2800EUR depending on experience - Per diem and living expenses: 542 EUR (cf eurocost) net, paid in the field.
- + 150EUR Context allowance - + 16% of the gross monthly salary for reimbursement of retirement insurance for non-French people.
- + Child allowance Transport and accommodation: - Travel costs to and from the workplace.
- Single room in collective housing covered Medical cover: 100% cover for medical costs + repatriation insurance.
Leave and RnR: - 25 days of paid leave per year.
- + 20 RTT per year.
- + 215 EUR paid for the recovery period - Support for transport tickets to the reference recovery area.
Training: - Unlimited and free access to the e-learning platform certifying Crossknowledge ©.
- Regional technical training or headquarters on average once a year + Intermission business workshop once a year.
- Possibility of Coaching (for Country Directors) and mentoring.
- Participation in external training costs according to the relevance of the file.
