Duties and Qualifications : FUNCTIONS
- Driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers and the delivery and collection of mail, documents, correspondence from UNHCR and others.
- Meet with official staff at the airport and other locations and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as needed.
- Perform daily maintenance of assigned vehicles; check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., and ensure that vehicles assigned to UNHCR are in optimal working order and maintained in accordance with established safety standards.
- Carry out minor repairs, coordinate with workshops or personnel specialized in Automotive Mechanics if other types of repairs must be carried out and make sure that the vehicle is always kept clean.
- Ensure that the guidelines established by the organization's rules and regulations, or other local procedures, are followed in the event of an accident.
- Record official trips, daily mileage, gas or gasoline consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
- Ensure that the instructions and safety guidance provided by the supervisor and the safety focal point are strictly followed.
- Make sure that the passengers, articles or merchandise transported have valid documentation.
- Perform other related tasks if required.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL RATINGS
Years of experience / Level of education
- Complete Primary Education.
- At least 2 years of previous and relevant experience in accordance with the stated functions.
Certificates and / or Licenses
- Valid driving license.
Relevant Professional Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.

- Knowledge of the most frequent routes within the Office's coverage area.
- Knowledge of automotive mechanics.
- Basic skills and knowledge for managing computer programs (Word, Excel).

The office driver position is normally under the direct supervision of the Administrative Associate. The driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicles assigned by UNHCR according to the technical guidelines and specifications established by the organization. The driver is required to follow strict instructions and the safety guidance provided by the supervisor. While the basic function of a Driver is to drive official UNHCR vehicles, they may be required to perform minor maintenance and repair on UNHCR vehicles.
The driver will have regular contact with personnel within the UNHCR office and outside UNHCR (with partners, government authorities, etc.), involving limited exchange of information.
All UNHCR officials are responsible for performing tasks in accordance with their Terms of Reference. Officials must carry out their functions in accordance with the authority delegated to them and in line with UNHCR's regulatory framework, which includes the United Nations Charter, Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR's Administrative and Political Instructions, as well as as the relevant accountability framework. Additionally, officials are required to fulfill their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the basic, functional, managerial and other competencies related to the position and UNHCR's basic values, professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity.
